Brer Rabbit is the wiliest trickster any of the other animals have come up against. For example, when Brer Rabbit falls in love with one of Miz Meadows’ daughters, he tricks the poor girl into marrying him!
More mischief occurs when Brer Rabbit fools Brer Fox into running through a thicket full of hornets. Then Brer Alligator finds trouble when Brer Rabbit sets a fire near him while he is sleeping. But no matter how hard the other animals try to punish him for his pranks and jokes, Brer Rabbit always seems to escape.
