Eighteen months after nearly dying overseas, former Air Force PJ Travis Lane is back.

When a private jet carrying a Silicon Valley engineer crashes in the Swiss Alps, officials suspect mechanical failure. But they’re wrong. The aircraft didn’t crash. It was forced down by the classified system the engineer had come to Switzerland to destroy.

Known as ORWELL, this AI-based software was designed to protect the user from the world’s most dangerous digital threats. But it has evolved beyond its programming, and now threatened, it intends to survive, a fact Travis and his team learn the hard way when they are ambushed at the crash site.

After losing ORWELL and one of his men, Lane returns to the States, only to learn that the software was only the delivery system. The real weapon is Peter Liu, a Taiwanese-born programmer living in the Silicon Valley. Realizing Peter is now a target, Travis is sent to protect him, and when the Chinese use a deep-cover source in the US government to get Peter deported, Travis finds himself locked in a global chase where simply surviving won’t be enough.
