Summary

Summary

Author Susan Wittig Albert turns up the suspense in her China Bayles mystery series. Just as the holiday season begins, so does the drama, when her husband's ex-wife Sally appears begging for help and a place to stay. 'Tis the season of giving, so China opens her home to Sally. But when troubling phone calls start, China knows she'll need to dig up the truth before Christmas turns deadly.

Editorial Reviews

Editorial Reviews

Gibson and Tom Stechschulte read alternating chapters, from the viewpoint of China or her husband, respectively. The majority of the narration falls to Gibson, whose smooth, inviting speech contrasts sharply with the deep, gruff voice of Stechschulte. Gibson adds a touch of humor and lightheartedness to China’s dialogue, which complements the dramatic passages. AudioFile
“Albert’s Texas Hill Country mysteries are always a good value for both the mystery and the horticultural insights.”  Kirkus Reviews
