Summary

The federal government’s efforts to round up and remove Nevada’s wild horses have sparked fierce debate and heightened emotions. When the round-up begins, a helicopter chasing those wild horses suddenly crashes into the desert and, when Sheriff Porter Beck reaches the crash site, he discovers that this was no accident––the pilot was shot. And this almost impossible murder is just the beginning.

The government official coordinating the roundup is kidnapped, and there’s no lack of suspects––with a wild horse advocacy group having sworn to protect these endangered animals at any cost. Beck’s team is already stretched thin––COVID having landed in Lincoln County––when the Feds start showing up looking for answers … or at least a scapegoat.

Beck has had better days.

With his personal life in turmoil, too many suspects and too many secrets, the Feds pushing for a quick resolution, and his impetuous, highly skilled sister Brinley in the mix, one wrong step could be deadly.
