The hideous spirit of Jupiter, the evil cat who was once lord of the sewer rats, has returned, more terrifying than ever. Bent on revenge for his death, he is determined to turn the world into an
eternal winter of hatred. The Deptford Mice feel his chilling grasp everywhere they turn. Their allies are murdered, and the prophetic bats flee, sensing impending doom. A rat army thirsty for
mouse blood is building underground. And most frightening of all is that the Starglass, their magical source of knowledge and power, has been stolen by a cruel and violent hand. The mice know they
face the most desperate struggle of their lives. Will anyone survive?

Editorial Reviews
“Fans of the mice will find plenty of what they expect in this conclusion: lots of action, lots of gore, a large cast of characters, and a truly evil antihero.” —School Library Journal
“Jarvis brings the Deptford Mice trilogy to a stunning conclusion in a story that resonates with mysticism, fear, courage, and horror.” —Booklist (starred review)
“A crescendo of savage horror, relieved only by a few grace notes of tender poignancy, make a gripping page-turner of this finale to the Deptford Mice trilogy...A superlative conclusion to a top-notch series.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
Robin Jarvis was born in Liverpool, England, and studied graphic design in college. He worked in television and advertising before becoming a full-time author and illustrator.
It was while working at a company that made characters for TV programs and advertising that he began making sketches of mice. From these drawings, the idea for the Deptford Mice was born. The
Dark Portal, short-listed for the 1989 Smarties Book Prize in England, was followed by two more titles in the series, The Crystal Prison and The Final Reckoning. He lives in
London.
