Summary

Summary

Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Howell Raines, author of the New York Times bestselling Fly Fishing Through the Midlife Crisis, delivers a riveting follow-up with The One That Got Away, a moving and introspective look at life’s uncertainties that will ring true to every reader.

Raines lost his position as executive editor of the Times after the Jayson Blair plagiarism scandal broke out, but what happened next was surprising. He came to realize that losing his job was exactly what he needed and wanted. Much like fishing, Raines learned, life is perhaps best approached with a catch-and-release mentality. Sometimes we grow and learn the most when we let go and move on.

Refreshingly candid and wonderfully insightful, The One That Got Away is a memoir to be savored and treasured.
