Summary

Summary

Internationally acclaimed and bestselling author Alan Furst writes contemplative, urbane works that transcend the spy novel genre. Set in the desperate days of World War II, The World at Night illuminates the shadowy dealings of clandestine operatives risking everything for freedom.

Paris, 1940. Jean Casson, a wealthy and idealistic film producer, feels his world crumbling as German soldiers invade his city. But despite the German occupation, Parisian life soon regains its characteristic pace. Then one day Casson—ever the romantic—finds himself faced with a dangerously noble opportunity. When offered the chance to participate in a daring collaboration with the British secret service, he accepts. Now he must take risks that will endanger all that he holds dear.
